Finasteride is an FDA-approved medication used to treat male pattern hair loss by reducing the hormone DHT that causes hair follicles to shrink.

It works by blocking the enzyme that converts testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a hormone responsible for hair follicle shrinkage. Lower DHT levels help reduce hair loss and support regrowth.

You may notice a reduction in hair loss within 3 months. New hair growth is typically seen after 6 months of consistent use. Maximum benefit is seen with long-term daily use.

Take one tablet (1 mg) once daily at the same time each day, with or without food. If you miss a dose, skip it and resume your schedule the next day. Do not take extra to make up for a missed dose.

Some men may experience reduced sex drive, difficulty achieving an erection, or decreased semen volume. These effects are uncommon and usually resolve after stopping treatment.

Side effects are rare but may include scalp irritation, dryness, or itching. Because it's applied topically, systemic side effects are far less likely than with oral Finasteride.

Skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not take two doses at once. Consistent daily use provides the best results.

Store at room temperature (68–77°F), away from moisture, heat, and direct light. Keep the medication in its original container and out of reach of children.
